Niet vanwege het toerisme. Niet vanwege La Pelosa. Niet vanwege die zee. Op het eiland woonden zo'n 500 mensen: Sardijnse herders en Ligurische vissers die generaties eerder uit Camogli waren gekomen, aangetrokken door de rijke tonijnvisserij van Le Saline. Ze werden met geweld verdreven, met een vergoeding van 750 lire per gezin.<\/p>\n<p>Velen raakten verspreid \u2013 naar Porto Torres, Sassari, Castelsardo. Maar 45 gezinnen besloten bij elkaar te blijven. Met hulp van de gebroeders Murtola kochten ze een smalle strook land tussen twee zeearmen \u2013 in het Sassarees <em>isthint\u00ecnu<\/em>, \u201cdarm\u201d \u2013 en op 14 augustus 1885 stichtten ze een nieuw dorp: de \u201cComunione dei 45\u201d (de gemeenschap van de 45).<\/p>\n<p>Dat dorp is Stintino.
