Aglientu: the Wild Coast,
the Granite and Vignola Mare

"Aglientu is the best-kept secret on the northern coast. Six kilometres of coastline with pink granite coves, Vignola Mare as a genuine seaside hamlet, the hinterland of Vermentino di Gallura DOCG. Between Santa Teresa and Costa Paradiso, but more authentic than either."

📍 What is Aglientu?

Aglientu is a municipality of around 1,150 inhabitants in northern Gallura, in the province of Sassari. The historic village lies in the hilly inland area, 7 km from the sea, whilst the coastal area is dominated by the seaside hamlet of Vignola Sea and by a series of pink granite coves stretching for over 6 kilometres.

It is a destination still under-touristed compared to nearby Santa Teresa di Gallura (10 km to the north-east) and Costa Paradiso (10 km to the south-west). Those who know it return every year for exactly this reason: pink granite, coves with character, no crowds, lower prices than the North-East cluster.

We at AffittaSardegna directly manage 5 properties in Aglientu since 2011 — a boutique selection between the Vignola Mare area and inland locations. Our North-East cluster portfolio is completed here: a hinge between Santa Teresa and Costa Paradiso, a strategic location for visiting both without spending like in Porto Cervo.

Aglientu is the place where you realise that northern Sardinia still has unspoilt pieces. Granite coves that look like paintings, no crowds even in August, an authentic seafaring atmosphere. It's what those who can no longer stand the queues of Porto Cervo are looking for.

⚓ Vignola Mare, the Heart of the Coast

Vignola Mare is the seaside hamlet of Aglientu — a small marina, a few restaurants, a supermarket, and a scenic seafront promenade. Nothing too touristy, nothing that’s been “discovered” by Instagram. A place that has retained its character.

From here you set off to explore the coves of the Aglientu coast, reachable on foot along panoramic trails or by car up to the various car parks. It is also the nerve centre for those wanting a base in Aglientu: restaurants, essential services, moorings for small boats.
