📍 What Is Posada
Posada is a medieval hilltop village on the north-eastern coast of Sardinia, officially listed among "the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy". Its old town of stone lanes and pastel houses climbs to the ruins of the
It's the perfect choice for travelers who want both sea and authenticity: long, uncrowded beaches just a few minutes away, a medieval village, and a nature reserve along the river. Away from the glamour of the coast, close to real Sardinia. We've managed holiday homes here since 2011.
Most people drive past Posada on the way to the beach. The ones who climb to the Castello della Fava get the reward: medieval lanes, a thousand-year castle, and a view that takes in the river, the plain and the sea all at once.
🏰 The Village and the Castello della Fava
The village is explored on foot, climbing the narrow stone lanes to the Fava Castle, a medieval castle dating to the 13th century. Climbing to the tower rewards you with a 360° view over the Posada plain, the winding river, the lagoons and the sea on the horizon. The legend of the name ('della Fava') tells of a siege broken by a trick: a pigeon fed on beans, released toward the enemy to make them believe the village had food in abundance.
