Beaches

Northern Sardinia has introduced the limited number on the most fragile and iconic beaches. This isn’t pointless red tape: it’s a necessary measure to protect extremely delicate ecosystems and ensure a better experience for visitors to the island. Anyone arriving without a booking risks being turned away. Updated guide 2026.

💬 We’ll help you organise everything without any mistakes

⭐ Over 300 properties managed since 2011 in Northern Sardinia

Every year, we help hundreds of families, couples and groups find their perfect home — with no mistakes and no surprises.

Why is there a quota system in Sardinia?

Between 2000 and 2020, the rise in tourism led to sand erosion, the destruction of Posidonia seagrass, extreme overcrowding and a loss of biodiversity. The visitor limit helps to minimise environmental impact, keep the water crystal-clear and enhance the quality of the experience for those who visit. Today, it is an established practice and set to expand in the coming years.

✅ Practical Tips for Getting Organised

Before you set off

  • Check the official website for the beach in question
  • Book online as soon as it becomes available (from March–April for July–August)
  • Download the confirmation to your phone
  • Please plan your arrival time (departure by the afternoon)

What to bring

  • Mat (compulsory at La Pelosa)
  • A water bottle and plenty of water
  • SPF 50+ (the Sardinian sun is intense)
  • Rubbish bag
  • Rock shoes
  • Snorkelling set (Merita)
Limited intake isn’t a problem. It’s a form of natural selection that favours those who plan ahead.
Those who book in advance get to enjoy unspoilt beaches with fewer crowds. Those who turn up at the last minute may be left out in the cold — but they’ll easily find wonderful alternatives in northern Sardinia.
